Have you ever wondered, how did I get into baking? Honestly, probably not. But I'm going to tell you anyway.
Christmas 2010 I think, my aunt and uncle gave me this cookbook. I had always loved to cook, especially bake, and I had wanted to open my own bakery since second grade, but in the blur of recent events, I was more into acting that baking at the moment. I have always had little crazes, one month I would be obsessed with knitting, doing it all the time, and then the next I'd realize how horrible I was at it. maybe 2 months I would be completely into making soup or something, then realize I was really sick of soup. So this one Christmas I got a cookbook, it was called "Perfect Cupcakes" (You can find more information about it, and also a review of this book on my links and books page.) I flipped through it and decided to make the coconut rasberry cupcakes. The next day, or maybe it was a week later, I made the cupcakes and served them to my family after dinner. They were okay, not that good. I thought for a second and came up with an idea for a similar cupcake, that might be better. The next day I tried the idea. I made the base cupcake of the ones I had made the day before, but without the rasberry. Then at the end I made a glaze and put it in a bowl. In another bowl I put some coconut. I dipped the cupcakes in the glaze then in the coconut. It worked, the coconut stuck (you can find this recipe on my home page, it's called "Coconut Cupcakes.") The cupcakes were better than the ones that I had made from the book. After I tried more recipes from the book, and not from the book. A couple months after I had gotten the book, and I had gotten pretty good at making cupcakes. I decided I wanted to make a cooking video for how to make one of my cupcake ideas. So I got a camera from my dad, and a tripod, then made a blog to put the recipe on, and a youtube account to put the video on. I got started.
