You can make really fast and easy fruit shortcakes by just using this recipe. We have had this almost every night for a while, and guests are always wowed, and they don't realize just how easy it really is!
Ingredients:
Store bought or homemade biscuits, if you need a recipe look online or in a cookbook
Fruit (I've only used strawberries and blueberries)
Sugar
Whipped cream
Tools:
Plate
Knife
Directions:
Start by prepping the fruit. Wash it and let it out to dry, or in the case of strawberries, take out the stem and cut the strawberry into little pieces, then put them in a bowl or plate and sprinkle a little sugar on top. Let them sit for a while, put a cover or bowl over it so that the flies don't get at it. After letting the fruit sit, take all the ingredients and your desert plates and put the biscuit and the fruit and the whipped cream on to the plate. Eat up!
I feel that this works better when made fresh, so while someone else is cooking dinner, prep the fruit, then let it sit while dinner goes, and just after dinner ends, go in and make the shortcakes.
Homemade Whipped Cream:
1 cup heavy or whipping cream
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Whip the ingredients together until they are soft!
