Buying Measuring Cups

I thought that since I was thinking so much about what measuring cups I would buy if I had been in charge of buying them, I would make a nice blog post.  I am going to give some tips on what .measuring cups to buy, for durability, use, and which are easiest to clean.
At my house we have a wide abundance of different measuring cups.  I must say that I have a hard time picking a favorite set.  But it does give me a rather good idea of which ones are easiest to use.  Here are some tips.

1.) I like the ones with the engraved markings on them. We have some that are printed in ink on the handle and it gets very hard to see the smudged, almost wiped off, "1/3 cup."  We have another set that has the markings engraved on and it is easy to see.

2.) The shallow ones are better.  I have found that the very tall measuring cups are hard to store, hard to clean, and harder to get flour and all into.  But if you get a shallow one, than you can easily, store, clean, and scoop with it.

3.) You need to have the metric system measurement on it.  Some recipes online and in many places use the metric system, and having the metric  measurment along with the "1/3 cup" could be helpful.

And there are the couple of tips that I have.  I may add on as the inspiration comes to me.

Cupcake Decorating Idea

Quite a bit ago I had been making cupcakes, I guess that much could be assumed.  I was making some basic chocolate cupcakes, I believe it was a school night and I was making them for my dad's birthday.  I accidentally splashed some sour cream in a sort of zig-zag line on one of the top of one of the cupcakes.  I was a little scared that this was a problem but assumed that it would go away after baking.  I popped the cupcakes into the oven.  After baking, I realized that my assumtion that the line would go away was wrong.  The line that i had splashed on ws still there, as white as ever on the brown cupcake.  Only latter did I realize that this could be a really cool way to decorate cupcakes.  You make some cupcakes (Dark ones would be best, really any form of chocolate.) and then dot little designs on with sour cream.  I plan to test this theory very soon.
