One time I didn't have any baking cups, or any money to buy some. I really really wanted to make cupcakes, but how was I going to without baking cups? I was flipping through a book my aunt got me for my birthday, called Sweet Treats by Carolyn Beth Weil (You can find more information about this, and also a review on my "links and books" page), looking for maybe another idea of something to bake, when I came upon a picture of interest. On it was a girl who had a cake pan and a roll of parchment paper, and a pencil. She put the cake pan top on the parchment paper and traced it. I had an idea.
What if I used parchment paper as baking cups? Okay, sneak peek, it works.
Materials:
parchment paper
your muffin pan
pencil
scissors
knife
batter
Directions:
1) Take the parchment paper and your muffin pan and trace the bottom of one of the muffin indents on the paper.
2) Cut it out and place inside the muffin indent. Does it fit?
3) If it does great for you, if it doesn't cut it down to size.
4) use this as a pattern to cut out more circles.
5)pour in your batter
6) cook
7) use a knife to cut around the edge, then pull the cupcake out.
This method is not the cleanest, easiest, or prettiest but if you don't have any cupcake papers this is a good option.
